Welcome

In a bright moment of inspiration, I decided to get the family tree up online, in a linkable format, so the family that is flung far & wide could see.

It had been requested several years ago that I scan & distribute copies of what I had created. Considering that I had binders (yes plural) of work, I just didn't see that happening. And given that years ago, you had to download programs, create GEDCOM files, find a site, pay for hosting, upload the files, redo the entire process when any info changed... well, I didn't see that happening either.

Recently, I was asked about the location of the family grave sites so they might be visited the weekend of the big reunion. Most of my links were done long ago & reside on the sleeping giant of a PC that hasn't been turned on for years. So, in a "let me google that for you" moment, I started searching. Again. And linking. And discovering.

And lo, I stumbled on a free & extremely user friendly site that allowed the "planting" & loving tending of family trees.

I was immediately hooked. Again. And in the span of 4 short days, I had the entire first binder up online & ready to go just 3 days before the family was to assemble in Crocker, MO. (Yes, first binder.)

And then another flash of inspiration struck. Why not create a blog where the family stories & information might be shared & commented on & linked & shared some more. In a tree that goes back over 50 generations, some of the famous (& infamous) names & colorful stories are bound to be lost & overlooked. Hopefully, this will make it easier to share the rich history that I discovered in my "wanderings".

Enjoy.
And come back often.
You never know what I'll dig up :)
